You decide to stop at McDonald's for lunch and while placing your order a crazed wild-man storms in waving a pistol, screaming, demanding money . What can you do?
Customers begin running and bolting for the nearest cover. As you dive behind a trashcan you hear a 'click' as the handgun's firing pin struck the chambered round. Peeking around the trash can you see the robber look confusedly at his weapon, tail aim and fired once more. Click. Click, click, click. Miraculously the gun misfires 5 times. Screaming in a fit of rage, the gunman storms out of the restaurant.
Once outside he bangs his pistol on his leg, aims the gun at the asphalt and fires. Bang. The round fires off. With renewed confidence the would-be be robber runs back inside the McDonald's once again demanding valuables from everybody.
From your hiding spot you watched as the gunman raced back in the restaurant. This time you crawled under the nearest booth and waited for the massacre to begin. Again you hear a click. You almost laughed out loud at the impossibility. The man runs out side and aims at passing cars. Bang! Bang! You hear the rounds fire off and wonder if any of the passers-by were struck. The man runs back inside demanding property. Yet again you hear the click. This time it's louder because everyone had stopped and was staring at the gun. Click click click. Three more shots that never went off.
As you emerge from your hiding spot you see the frustrated robber take pause and scan the room. Your eyes meet and for a moment you can see the tortured soul behind the raging demon that has ahold of this man. He raises the gun slightly and then suddenly turns around and leaves the restaurant. You slowly exhale, not even realizing that you were holding your breath. You pull out your cell phone to call the police. Seeing that others already had you instead dial your wife and tell her you love her, thankful to be alive.
Believe it or not, these events took place at a Ft. Worth McDonald's yesterday afternoon. Some customers are reported to have said it was as if God himself saved them. Stories like this seem to be happening everywhere.
Since moving into this new millennium it seems as if our Lord has taken a more active role in our lives. Many would say it's because He is preparing for His return. What do you think?
