Today I am going to feature a celebrity of great importance. Angelina Jolie is not only a great actress and director she is a wonderful humanitarian and contributor to the great works for women’s issues around the world.

Early life

Angelina was no stranger to Hollywood her father was the actor Jon Voight. Her mother Marcheline Bertrand was also an actress. Angelina Jolie was born on June 4, 1975. Angelina Jolie is the godchild to Jacqueline Bisset and Maximilian Schell who are also actors. Angelina is of Dutch, Slovak, German, Iroquois, and French Canadian descent. She is one of the most beautiful women in the world both inside and out.

Angelina began acting at a very young age she dropped out of acting school at the age of 14 and began modeling. Like many teenagers she has her rebellious period in England where she was living at the time. Angelina is quoted as saying, "I am still at heart—and always will be—just a punk kid with tattoos."

Angelina did finish high school but she never quite felt she fit in. She suffered from suicidal depression during her teenage and early adult years. Angelina lived with her mother who had a modest income at the time and she was among some of the wealthiest celebrity children in her high school. She was also teased for wearing braces. Her response to the situation was to harm herself. She says, "I collected knives and always had certain things around. For some reason, the ritual of having cut myself and feeling the pain, maybe feeling alive, feeling some kind of release, it was somehow therapeutic to me."[20] She also began experimenting with drugs; by the age of 20 she had tried "just about every drug possible," including heroin.”

She was estranged from her father and even filed to have the name Voight dropped from her name. In 2002 the two reconciled after her mother died.

This next article will briefly discuss her career and humanitarian efforts.
