There is no denying that Angelina Jolie has star power. Her star power will now be used to help out her family’s new cancer charity. The cancer charity will be named after Jolie’s mother Marcheline and after her aunt and uncle.
The Marcheline Debra and Raleigh Foundation aims to promote cancer education and awareness. The members of Jolie’s family whom the foundation is named after all passed away after battling cancer. Both Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt will be helping the foundation out as much as they can since both stars are familiar with humanitarian work. Jolie’s father Jon Voight will also be involved with the family cancer charity.
Francis Bertrand, Jolie’s cousin, told Grazia magazine, “It’s great that she uses her star power in the right way. Her mother believed life was meaningful if you gave back. She would have been very proud of her receiving that award.”
Bertrand was referring to Jolie earning the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award.
Jolie’s recent humanitarian work has focused on raising awareness about the BRCA1 gene and raising awareness about the use of rape as a weapon in areas of conflict. Her fiancé, Brad Pitt, has focused on rebuilding energy efficient homes in the wake of natural disasters.
