Angelina Jolie's 'Unbroken' gets some Oscar winning writing talent

THR learned some exciting news yesterday about Angelina Jolie’s upcoming directorial effort “Unbroken.”

An adaptation of author Laura Hillenbrand’s non-fiction bestseller of the same name, the book tells the true story of Louis Zamperini, a former Olympian and WWII bombardier whose plane crashed at sea in 1943. Zamperini and two crewmates floated adrift for 47 days and 2000 miles, eventually finding themselves caught by the Japanese Navy and sent to a POW camp where Zamperini was targeted by a sadistic overseer.

What’s incredible about this is that Universal has just locked the dynamic duo, Joel and Ethan Coen (“No Country for Old Men”), to write the script for the new film.

So now we have this incredible story, a fantastic director, and the amazing writing talent; all we need now is the phenomenal casting and we are sure to have some Oscar nominations.
