Angelina Jolie's 'Maleficent' has wings in new teaser clip

“I had wings once. They were strong. They were stolen from me.”

Angelina Jolie wears wings for Disney's 'Maleficent'

That is what Angelina Jolie’s Maleficent responds to Aurora (Elle Fanning) when asked why she doesn’t have wings unlike the other jolly fairies in the recent teaser.

In the clip released early Monday, audiences get a glimpse of the wicked sorceress flying around before making a dive. Those familiar with the story know that Maleficent is actually a dark fairy and the clip teases the significance loss of Maleficent's wings.

A new banner was also released by Disney, displaying Maleficent with her raven-like wings.

Maleficent explores the untold story of Disney’s most iconic villain from the 1959 classic “Sleeping Beauty" and the elements of her betrayal that ultimately turn her pure heart to stone. Driven by revenge and a fierce desire to protect the moors over which she presides, Maleficent cruelly places an irrevocable curse upon the human king’s newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Aurora is caught in the middle of the seething conflict between the forest kingdom she has grown to love and the human kingdom that holds her legacy. Maleficent realizes that Aurora may hold the key to peace in the land and is forced to take drastic actions that will change both worlds forever.

Maleficent also stars Sharlto Copley, Juno Temple, Sam Riley, Miranda Richardson, and Doctor Who’s newest Doctor Peter Capaldi.

Maleficent hits theaters May 30, 2014
