Actress Angelina Jolie did not speak to her father Jon Voight for years, but last year the two reconcilled and since that time he has bonded closely with her six young celebrity children. What happened in the lives of the Hollywood icons to bring them back together? "I suddenly saw things differently and everything shifted," Voight, 72, told the U.K. Daily Mail about his part in the family decision to reconcile himself (as an estranged dad) with Jolie. "That one moment [of clarity] changed my whole life. It gave me back my daughter and my family. Being reunited with my Angie is very precious to me."
The Hollywood Reporter reminded fans of the star that the two famous family members has a big falling out back in 2002 when the outspoken conservative actor said his liberal daughter should “get help,” because she had “serious mental problems.” Jolie was furious and essentially cut off all conversation with her movie star dad, and focused on building her family with new beau actor Brad Pitt (ex-husband of actress Jennifer Aniston and well-known "family man" who desperately wanted children).
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt co-parent three adopted children and have given birth two three more children naturally. Voight now brags about his daughter's kids as if they are the greatest joy. What finally woke up the actor? Celebrity gossip sources can only speculate about what the real a-ha moment was for him because he and Jolie really do try to keep their family business private (mostly). But one thing is clear -- he does seem to really enjoy being a grandfather... and that is great for all her kiddies.
