Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have both been mentioned in a lawsuit involving cell phone hacking, according to Dec. 12 report in Huffington Post. The suit is between Jolie’s stunt double and News Corp., stating that the media company hacked her personal cell phone.
Angelina Jolie’s double, Eunice Huthart, worked for the “Unbroken” director in the films, “Tomb Raider 2”, “Beyond Borders” and “Mr. and Mrs. Smith”.
Huthart, claims News Corp. was able to intercept phone messages that were made to her from Jolie. According to TheWrap, Huthart is also claiming that this hacking resulted in two stories in the newspapers, the News of the World and the Sun, about Jolie wanting to quit acting and Angelina wanting to go biking.
Angelina Jolie is listed as one of the “potential witnesses” in the lawsuit.
[News Corp.’s interest in Huthart] derived entirely from her personal and professional relationships to celebrities, such as Jolie and Brad Pitt, which are a product of her Hollywood-based career … [Angelina Jolie could testify that Huthart’s] discretion and trustworthiness were compromised," said The Hollywood Reporter about Huthart’s claims.
The Guardian first revealed in 2012 that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt had been victimized by the News of the World by hacking their cell phones.
