Hold on to your wedding gift card. One of Hollywood’s most powerful couples just tied the knot. News is slowly trickling in that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt had secretly gotten married on Saturday at their estate Chateau Mirval in Correns, France, according to a spokesman for the pair. Their marriage license had been obtained by a California judge who also conducted the private ceremony which was attended by an intimate group of family and friends. Pitt’s manager said: “Yes, it’s confirmed. It is a promise for the future and their kids are very happy.”
The wedding day arrives after nine years of dating, two years being engaged and six kids later. And speaking of the children, it is also reported that Jolie was escorted down the aisle by her sons Maddox and Pax while Zahara and Vivienne participated by throwing flower petals. Shiloh and Knox served as ring bearers.
During an interview in 2012, Pitt told the Associated Press regarding marrying the 39-year-old actress: “It’s an exciting prospect, even though for us, we’ve gone further than that. But to concretize it in that way, it actually means more to me than I thought it would. It means a lot to our kids.”
Jolie told People magazine in May of 2014, “We’re just waiting for it to be the right time with the kids, with work, when it feels right.”
Pitt, 50, collaborated with jeweler Robert Procop on the design of Jolie’s ring. This is Pitt’s second marriage with his first being to actress Jennifer Aniston in 2000. Jolie has been married to Jonny Lee Miller who plays Sherlock Holmes on CBS’s “Elementary” and to Billy Bob Thornton formerly of FX’s “Fargo” series. Mr. and Mrs. Smith are now officially Mr. and Mrs. Brad Pitt.
