Angela Lansbury and James Earl Jones are joining the Broadway "Driving Miss Daisy" cast. On Mon., Jan. 7, 2013, Lansbury and Jones, who are both in their 80s, appeared at a press conference in Australia to discuss their upcoming roles, reported Yahoo! News.
Angela Lansbury, 87, spoke about the joys of performing in live theater versus moving pictures. "You get on stage and you really can let it out," she said. "You're not hampered by camera angles or lighting."
For James Earl Jones, the process begins simply. "First of all, wake up. Wake up and try to get your bones moving," he said. "And then be enthusiastic about what you do. I'm very enthusiastic about acting still. I love the process of creating a character."
The popular 1989 film of the same name starred Jessica Tandy and Morgan Freeman as the elderly Jewish woman and her African-American chauffeur. The screenplay was written by the same playwright who wrote the play, Alfred Uhry. "Driving Miss Daisy" is set in the 1950s. During its opening weekend more than 20 years ago, it earned a meager $73,745. However, it opened on only three screens, according to IMDb. It went on to gross more than $145 million.
