The Boston Asian American Film Festival will celebrate its fifth anniversary this year with a special screening of director Ang Lee's "The Wedding Banquet" Oct. 24.
The Academy Award and Oscar winning director of "Life of Pi," "Brokeback Mountain," and "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon" will be on hand to introduce a special 20th anniversary screening of his Oscar and Golden Globe nominated 1993 film "The Wedding Banquet."
“The Wedding Banquet stands the test of time, and is still a touching must-see film that speaks to the experience of many gay Asian Americans in both a sincere and comedic way,” said Susan Chinsen, BAAFF Director, “I can’t think of a better honor for our fifth anniversary, than to have Ang Lee here with us to celebrate this milestone here in Massachusetts, the first state to uphold equal marriage rights.”
Also screening opening night at this year's festival will be Evan Jackson Leong's documentary "Linsanity" about Asian American NBA basketball player Jeremy Lin's rise to fame.
