Ang Lee might helm 'Cleopatra'

The long-time-coming biopic “Cleopatra” may have finally found new life.

“Life of Pi” director Ang Lee is flirting with the idea of picking up the film after David Fincher (“Fight Club”) had to back out of directorial duties.

Ang Lee had this to say to THR today, “I’m about to read the script. It just feels right to me after all the other types of films I’ve done. What does it have in common with any of them? They’re all totally different! That’s what makes this perfect.”

I am glad to see he is excited to direct something like this, and hopefully the script is to his liking because he makes beautiful movies.

With Angelina Jolie (“Mr. and Mrs. Smith”) set for the titular role you can guarantee if he signs on this will be a likely Oscar contender.

The film was written by Eric Roth (“The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”), and focuses more on the powerful side of Cleopatra instead of just her beauty.
