Suwanee, GA native, Andy Velo is no stranger to sharing the stage with some of country music’s hottest stars including Brad Paisley, Toby Keith and Trace Adkins, so it’s no surprise that he will fit right in with Randy Houser, Justin Moore, and Jamey Johnson at the TomBIGbee River Jam October 28-29 in Silas, AL. Velo is excited about playing the two-day country music festival in Southwest Alabama. “I like the small town feel, especially when I can play events and festivals like this.” explains Velo.
Andy taught himself to play the guitar at the age of 15 and by the age of 18 he was playing at fraternity parties, which led him to his current path. Since partnering with Jim Beam in 2009, Velo hit the road with his music. The young country star is currently planning his 2012 tour dates and has a few more recording sessions before his highly-anticipated debut album is released, which he predicts will be by the end of the year. The new release will feature catchy tunes like his 2007 hit single “Hank it up.” His latest single “Southern Thing” is gaining airplay at radio stations across the country.
Velo describes his music as rock, driven by his country voice. Always the consummate performer, Andy drew his inspiration from Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson and Tim McGraw. “The guys in my band are amazing musicians and without my country voice, they could easily be mistaken for a rock band,” Velo jokingly admits.
