Andy Reid close to becoming the Arizona Cardinals new head coach

A little more than 24 hours after firing Ken Whisenhunt, the Cardinals may have already found their man to be their new head coach. That man appears to be Andy Reid.

The two sides are close on a deal which would make Reid Whisenhunt's replacement as the Red Birds head coach, according to Mike Jurecki of Xtra Sports 910 Radio. NFL insider Jason La Canfora tweeted earlier in the day that he expected Reid to get the job as well.

Spending 14 seasons in Philadelphia with the Eagles, Reid is one of the most highly regarded coaches in the league. During in his time in Philly, Reid went 130-93-1 during the regular season and 10-9 in the playoffs with one Super Bowl appearance.

The hiring of Reid could bode well for the future of Kevin Kolb in a Cardinals uniform. Reid was said to be high on his former quarterback before Kolb had to deal with injury. Kolb was acquired by the Cardinals in exchange for cornerback Dominque Rodgers-Cromartie and a second round pick.

Despite the likelihood of Reid coming to Arizona, it is not yet a sure thing. Things could still fall apart, but the chances of Reid roaming the sidelines at the University of Phoenix Stadium appear to be very good at the moment.
