The Devils head into Monday's tilt having earned points in their last four contests (3-0-1) including Saturday's dramatic come-from-behind win against the Washington Capitals.
Andy Greene scored a pair of important goals over the weekend, including Saturday night's decision maker in overtime against the Capitals to complete the 5-4 comeback. It was Greene's sixth of the season and his first OT game-winner in his NHL career. Greene also had two assists in the defeat over Washington, earning just his second three-point game through his NHL career.
Greene leads all New Jersey Devils defenseman with 20 points and has five in his last three outings.
Jaromir Jagr had a three-point game of his own on Saturday and is heading into tonight's game riding a seven game point streak, a team- high this season for New Jersey. The veteran forward scored his 694th goal of his NHL career on Saturday against the Capitals, tying Mark Messier for seventh place all-time in the NHL.
Cory Schneider, who made 21 saves in Friday night's losing effort against the Anaheim Ducks will be hunting for his fifth win of the season when he makes his 17th start tonight for New Jersey and his fifth career appearance against the Chicago Blackhawks. Schneider faced the Hawks twice last season, earning points in both of them (1-0-1) and is 2-1-1 in his career against the defending Stanley Cup Champions.
The contest between the Devils and Blackhawks will be the first of two meetings between the two clubs this season, with each team hosting the other once.
The two last met up on March 27, 2012 with the Devils edging the Blackhawks 2-1 in a shootout. Corey Crawford stopped 3 of the 5 shootout attempts on his way to a loss in his first career game against the Devils.
