Andrew Dunbar is an actor and assistant director who loves his hockey and just happens to have a guest role as Jake on next Tuesday’s ‘Supernatural’. Not only will Dunbar be known to ‘Supernatural’ fans from his role in the episode ‘Mother’s Little Helper’, he is known for his spots on ‘Battlestar Galactica: Razor’, as Firefly on CW’s ‘Arrow’, and also played Marine Cpl. Gorman in ‘Stargate: SGU’. This talented actor will soon to be seen in the film 'She Who Must Burn'.
Q. Welcome to the ‘Supernatural’ fandom with your role as Jake on the season nine episode ‘Mother’s Little Helper’. Can you share with your fans how the cast and crew welcomed you to the set?
A. The set was great. Very relaxed and fun, which made it easy to jump in and feel comfortable right away. Jensen and Misha have obviously worked together for a while so Jensen wasn't shy to mess around with him as he was directing. Lots of joking around during filming and apparently the day before I got there, Jensen got him in the face with a whip cream pie twice that day. They were both great dudes and were a blast to work with.
Q. Tell your fans about your projects in the works called ‘She Who Must Burn’ and ‘BadCity’, as well as any other projects that are you currently working on.
A. 'She Who Must Burn' is a feature length horror film that I produced and acted in earlier this year. Larry Kent, a friend and a Canadian Indie film legend, was our director and it was an amazing experience. We are currently in post-production and hope to hit the festival circuit later this summer.
'Badcity' is a 70's cop comedy that was written by a couple of my talented buddies, Aaron Brooks and Dustin Milligan, and was directed by Carl Bessai. Aaron and Dustin are hilarious dudes and I was super pumped to be a part of Badcity. It was good, 70's fun and I'm excited to see the final product.
Right now, I'm focused on the post production for ‘She Who Must Burn’ as well as developing another horror film with my production company, WHITE BUFFALO FILMS, that we plan to shoot later this year.
Q. I read some of your other talents include guitar and singing,’ and you’re quite the athlete with playing hockey, basketball, baseball, football, and skiing. Myself I’m an avid skier and a diehard Dodgers fan. What are your true passions out of all these talents?
A. Hockey I'd say. I love playing hockey with my beer league team 'The Brutes'. It's always a blast to get out on the ice with the boys and great place to have a beer.
Q. I'm going to end with what's become my signature question. If you were a baseball player, what would your walk up song be?
A. Hard to say. If I had to choose right now, I'd have to say I really like 'Nightcall' from the Drive soundtrack. I feel like it would get me pumped up enough to knock one out of the park.
