Viewers of "The Real Housewives of New York City" were left shocked after watching Ramona Singer throw a wine glass at Kristen Taekman in retaliation for getting her wet while on a boat in the Berkshires. Ramona's action resulted in a cut lip and blood flowing everywhere for Kristen. After the episode aired, many viewers took to blogs and social media to say that Ramona should face repercussions for what she did.
Some also questioned why Andy Cohen did not immediately issue a statement condemning Ramona's action, finding his silence hypocritical since he made such a big deal about violence not being tolerated on "Real Housewives" after Porsha Stewart attacked Kenya Moore at the "Real Housewives of Atlanta" reunion show.
Well now Andy Cohen have finally brought up the incident between Ramona and Kristen, dubbed by Kristen as"lipgate." On Monday, May 12, Andy retweeted Ramona's tweet in which she explained her action. Ramona wrote that she's "beyond embarrassed" that she had a "knee jerk reaction." While her tweet seemed like an apology, she didn't actually apologize and made sure to include that Kristen got her "soaking wet" and that the wine glass that she threw was plastic glass.
Andy retweeting Ramona's tweet suggests that he's on her side or at least wants people, some of whom may become more sympathetic, to hear her side of the story. Unfortunately, many people responded to Ramona's explanatory tweet with scorn. One person wrote that Ramona's tweet was a cop-out apology while several found it irritating that she stressed that it was plastic glass that she threw. Some even taunted Ramona by writing that her bad behavior was because of Mario cheating on her with a mistress.
Kristen Taekman also talked about "lipgate" after the "Real Housewives of New York City" episode aired. She tweeted that it was hard to watch the episode and that she's still in shock over what happened. Tellingly, Andy Cohen hasn't retweeted Kristen's tweet as he did Ramona's.
