Android Tablet – GTab – MotoPAD, Olympus, or Everest specs

See also

In my Gtab (see my definition here) series I have been covering several tablets. Here is the most reliable information to date on Motorola’s Tablet.

Thus far the name has not been released. But some speculate that it will be called the MotoPAD, Olympus or Everest. (Olympus and Everest may be the name of two separate Tablets of varying sizes – most likely 7 inches and 10 inches). We are confirmed that Motorola and LG will be the first GTabs with Gingerbread. (Google is it Android 2.3 or Android 3.0? – sheesh).

Here are the specs:

  • Android 3.0
  • NVIDIA Tegra2 processor (dual core)
  • 1080p HD
  • Supports multi-standard audio formats, including AAC, AMR, WMA, and MP3
  • H.264/VC-1/MPEG-4 Video Decode
  • Dual-band WiFi a/b/g/n
  • Bluetooth 2.1+EDR support (sorry no 3.0)

Motorola Mobility CEO Sanjay Jha in May stated –

"I think that a companion 7- to 10-inch device in a home will become very important, [both] as an augmentation to your TV experience [and] also as a way of walking around the house and streaming TV to that device. I think we're very focused in participating in this convergence that's coming between mobility and home, and I think you will actually see some products from us in a very short period of time." As I get more details I will update you. Make sure to check out its competitors. More to come...
