The British newspaper, The Independent, published it's list of Fall television programs to look for yesterday and Andrew Scott's drama about 1970s Cold War Russian spies, "Legacy," came in under the Thriller category.
BBC2, late October
Paula Milne follows The Politician’s Husband with this Seventies Cold War thriller. A one-off drama, based on the novel by Alan Judd and directed by Pete Travis. Charlie Cox plays a young British spy tangling with Soviet diplomats, forbidden lovers and international intelligence. With Romola Garai, Andrew Scott and Simon Russell Beale.
Scott plays a Russian diplomat who through an old college friend who's now a spy for the UK government, may end up spying for the British, himself. Could be exciting, one hopes.
"Sherlock" is also listed for the upcoming third series in October, although Scott, who played Moriarty in the first and second series, bumped himself off in the last episode. However, he filmed new scenes earlier this year for the first episode flashback which will show how Holmes faked his death from the rooftop jump. It hasn't yet been announced when "Sherlock" will air on PBS in the U.S. Likely to be early in 2014, I assume, as it was in 2012.
