It has been officially announced that Andrew Scott, along with the rest of the cast of the Irish comedy 'The Stag', will attend the red carpet world premiere of the film at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in September.
The Irish Film and Television Network (IFTN) has just posted the breaking news here and the TIFF press office has confirmed it to this column. The entire cast including Scott, Peter McDonald (also the co-writer), Brian Gleeson, Andrew Bennett, Hugh O’Conor, Michael Legge and Amy Huberman, and the novelist and television writer, John Butler, who is making his screenwriting and directing debut, will also be in attendance.
‘The Stag' is a heartwarming, but raucous comedy about a quirky young groom-to-be, Fionnan (Hugh O'Conor), who works as a set designer planning his wedding to his fiancé (Amy Huberman) who urges him to have a stag party where he goes on a walking holiday in the rough Irish terrain with some of his buddies. They, like him, are urbanites to the core and prefer the great indoors. When the bride's antithetical brother, ‘The Machine’ (Peter McDonald) is invited to join them at her insistence trouble looks inevitable. As the trip degenerates into chaos, male bonding is attempted along with a sing-along, self-pleasuring by the brother in a communal tent, and a loss of clothes by all in the freezing cold. Sounds like fun for the whole family, eh?
