Position Specifics:
· Arm Strength – He does not have a cannon but does have a strong enough arm to make all of the throws with very good zip and accuracy.
· Leadership/Poise – Luck is a team leader who takes control of the huddle and leads his teammates by example. He consistently stays poised in the pocket and does not get rattled under pressure.
· Read Defenses – Consistently reads the defense correctly and fast, gets rid of the ball fast and accurately. Has trouble with picking up inside pressure on blitzes.
· Pocket Setup – Quickly gets back on his drops with quick feet, always staying balanced and on his feet.
· Quickness of Delivery – The ball gets to its intended target quickly, he has a quick release. He uses very good footwork and quick feet to get back quickly on pass drop backs and steps up in the pocket quickly to deliver an accurate throw on a consistent basis.
· Locate 2nd Receiver – Luck goes thru his progressions very fluid, will find secondary target very well and then deliver an accurate throw in the pocket or on the move outside of the pocket.
· Accuracy Long – He flashes the ability to make accurate medium/deep throws consistently, but sometimes he throws high and behind and not getting the ball over the safety.

· Avoid Rush – He has quick feet and athletic ability to avoid the sack, can make plays with his legs and pick up positive yardage. Gets a little jumpy sometimes with pressure coming up the middle.
· Big Plays – He consistently makes big plays in key moments, he is the best play action passer in this 2012 QB class.
· Errors – He does not make many mistakes or try risky throws, sometimes he does not see the underneath coverage when delivering the ball with pressure in his face.
v Strengths: Luck is a very good athlete with quick feet and good agility. He is deceptively fast and has very good mobility when he leaves the pocket and can gain yardage with his legs. He has a quick and accurate release and consistently completes short/intermediate deep passes with his very strong arm. He is just as accurate in the pocket as he is outside of the pocket. He reads the defense quickly and can deliver the ball to his primary receiver quickly and accurately. Luck is a very smart quarterback and you see it in his throwing motion and technique. His footwork is excellent in his pass drop backs and set up. He goes thru his progressions quickly and locates the correct receiver with consistency. He is a leader and takes charge of the huddle, his teammates rally around him in key moments. He looks very comfortable in the shotgun formation.
v Weaknesses: He does have the arm strength to make all of the throws, but an area of improvement would be on deep sideline or post passes he needs to get the ball over the safety more consistent. The ball tends to be short and behind the intended receiver too often. Pressure in his face coming from up the middle tends to catch him off guard at times and will make a hurried throw underneath without seeing the defender.
v Summary: Luck has all of the talents and traits of being a great franchise quarterback in the NFL. The talk about him being a once in a generation type quarterback needs to tone down a little. He has the tools to be special, but is not in Peyton Manning’s, Tom Brady’s, Drew Brees’, or Aaron Rodger’s class just yet. He will more than likely be the first player chosen in the 2012 NFL Draft. Luck could have entered the NFL Draft last year but chose to come back and help Stanford contend for a National Championship and to also claim the Heisman trophy as the best player in college football. He did not achieve any of his goals but he did solidify himself as the best quarterback prospect to come out of college in awhile. He has the skill set and smarts to fit into any offensive system.
