What do Andrew Jackson, Dollywood, and the Smokey Mountains have in common? Tennessee. My sister, Autumn, doesn’t do mountain driving very well. In fact, the last time she attempted to drive through the Smokey Mountains by herself, she had to stop and call for help, and do you know the Tennessee police came to her rescue and escorted her to the Kentucky border? It’s true, they did. I know policemen hear and see it all, but don’t you know they’re still having a good laugh about this one – the blond who freaked out driving through the mountains!
I’ve driven these mountains many times over the years on my travels between Illinois and Florida and I’ve had a few “sweaty palm” moments myself, but the stunning views are worth it. My advice; stay focused, look straight ahead, and keep moving. Once you get to your destination, you can sit back, relax with a glass of vin rouge and enjoy the scenic mountain views.
Tennessee is home to a wide variety of celebrities and famous people from Andrew Jackson to Elvis Presley. We all know its home to country music, but there’s much more to this great state than meets the eye so, if you’re looking for a new destination for your next getaway, Tennessee is the place to go.
