Saturday, Shirley Sherrod told CNN that she believes that Andrew Breitbart is racist after he released a short three minute clip of a speech she gave in March for the NAACP; the short clip was part of a much longer 47 minute speech and the edited version Breitbart released showed one very small part of the story. Sherrod also said Saturday that she expects an apology from Breitbart and that she holds a grudge against him, but she has yet to hear anything from him. Breitbart, on the other hand has stated that releasing the video clip wasn’t about Sherrod, but the NAACP.

The three minute NAACP clip that Breitbart released resulted in the loss of her USDA job. The longer version of Sherrod’s speech included a different story than what Breitbart told in his three minute video clip. Wednesday, the USDA apologized and offered Sherrod her job back.

Breitbart is a writer who has his own blog and runs several websites. Although he has yet to make any sort of public statement about Sherrod, he has listed several links of other sites on his website that say Sherrod owes him an apology for calling him a racist.

Sherrod said that she has been offered a different job at the USDA which is an outreach position that would deal with discrimination matters. She said she is excited about being the person that others would go to about those issues.

"I would not want to be that individual that the department and everyone is looking to solve the issue of racism at USDA. It takes a lot more to get that job done," she said. "I haven't seen the offer. ... Before I say no totally, I would like to look at that."

"You're a racist," person A says to person B. "No, you're a racist," person B says to person A. This needs to stop.

This country has made great strides in dealing with racism, though it has some to go. But it has done little dealing with the race card that gets played 24/7 by both sides.

Independents can provide some sanity in all of this.

Someone could accuse Sherrod of being an anti-Semite because she attacked Breitbart, just like she called him a racist. How can she see into Breitbart's heart? She can't.

The NAACP originally wanted to broad brushstroke all Tea Partiers as being racist, but scaled that back, so we can see their original bias & intent againt Tea Partiers. Breitbart fired back against the NAACP. Tit for tat.

MSNBC, Fox News & others have all shown that Sherrod was ousted BEFORE Fox News showed Breitbart's video. Sherrod said the White House played a role in her ouster in her first interview. That bothers me more than anything else. Under the bus.....

    Continued...

The NAACP had the entire clip of the speech that Sherrod gave which showed the correct context of what she was saying, along with the whole story, yet STILL they attacked and vilified her.

    Under the bus she went...

    Twice.

What Sherrod said in her speech was a beautiful thing to hear. It was honest, clearing, and healing, not just for her but others hearing the speech. I don't think what happened is any accident. It allows so many others to get hear her message, talk openly about it and learn from her example and what happened.

TELL THE TRUTH!! Mrs. Sherrod did not say that she was "excited" about the job tepid, at best. In fact, she expressed uncertainty about accepting the position of race relations problem solver. In my opinion, the offer was insulting. Her expertise is farm aid. She should have been offered a promotion in her area of specialty -- not a race job!!

Racist or not, Andrew Breitbart makes Dick Morris seem attractive.
But "racist" may just be one of the personal traits - that je ne sais quoi- that makes Andy B. so repulsive.

Um...did you know that not Ms Sherrod nor anyone can "see what's in Breitbart's heart" - or in anyone's heart, for that matter. Nut we can look at his behavior and get an idea. And of course someone could accuse Sherley Sherrod of being anti-Semitic! Why I bet Mr Breitbart could come up with a video clip - somehow, somewhere - showing Ms Sherrod praising Hitler maybe!... Fox would run with it and tea-partiers all around would be outraged to pieces. Then Ms Sherrod could get fired, or something.

Not that it could really happen.

If Ms. Sherrod is so non racist, she could fool me. Her true colors came out in the speech. Regardless of the speechs' outcome, her thoughts and comments were still racist and she should not be in that kind of a position. Then she's calling for Andrew's site to be shut down. How about being a truly good person Shirley and forgive and forget. Now she's going to take a civil rights position. Oh Boy!
