Andre Brown injury update news is horrible for the New York Giants and fantasy football owners. The Brown injury is a broken leg, sustained during the first half of a preseason game against the New England Patriots on Thursday night (August 29). According to a report from ESPN, X-rays taken during halftime revealed that he had fractured the same leg that he did last November against the Green Bay Packers.
This is really bad news for the running back depth chart, as Brown was expected to get heavy use as the backup to start David Wilson. Wilson is certainly capable of putting up big numbers on his own, but Brown was going to be used as an additional weapon on offense. Losing another one of his key weapons could make things very difficult for Giants quarterback Eli Manning.
The team is already dealing with a heel injury to Victor Cruz and also saw backup safety Tyler Sash go down with a concussion against the Patriots. It was also noted that tight end Adrien Robinson injured his left foot during the same game and could miss the regular season opener for the Giants.
This Andre Brown injury update likely indicates that he is going to miss the entire regular season or at the very least a huge chunk of it. The team will have to turn to someone unproven as the main backup running back and fantasy football owners will have to seriously consider simply dropping Brown at this point.
