The film covers the late musician’s career from 1966-1967, prior to the release of his classic album, Are You Experienced.
The Outkast rapper bares a striking resemblance to the legendary rock star in the film. One can agree that he even sounds like him. But don’t count on Andre 3000 performing any classic Hendrix songs as the Hendrix estate has prohibited any use of his music in the film.
In place of the classics will be covers of the songs that Hendrix performed by bands such as The Beatles and others of that era.
Hendrix was known for his unique guitar riffs and classic songs. Although Andre 3000 is a perfect fit for the role, will it be enough to sustain the film without the full Jimi Hendrix experience?
The film was written and directed by John Ridley, winner of this year's Oscar for Best Writing, Adapted Screenplay for the film, "12 Years a Slave."
