Six months ago I wrote an article that previewed the first big fight between Anderson Silva and Chris Weidman. I spoke a bit about Rochester Native, Jon Jones, and I gave my opinion on the fight. I questioned Weidman's inexperience and talked about Silva's remarkable record and streak. Weidman certainly put that nonsense to rest and rest when he knocked out Silva to become the UFC Middleweight Champion. Now, they meet again.
In the second round of action, what can we expect? Well, we can expect Silva won't be toying with Weidman like he did in the first fight. In fact, he will probably be trying to knock Weidman into another stratosphere. However, six months ago I did question if Silva was slowing down as he nears 40 years old and I still have those same concerns. Maybe the first fight wasn't a fluke. Maybe Weidman will indeed handle business again this time around. It's tough to say for sure, but luckily we only need to wait a few more days to find out.
I don't usually get overly excited about a fight, but I honestly have no idea how this fight is going to go down. If I was forced to make a pick, I would choose Silva. I do think he underestimated Weidman in he first fight and I believe he will be extremely focused to seek revenge. UFC 168 will be here soon and I can't wait!!!
You will also get to see UFC Women's Champion Ronda Rousey in action and a couple other very good fighters. Enjoy the coverage and have a great New Year!
