Anderson homeowner shoots burglar who attempted to steal property

One man has been shot, and one taken in for questioning after an Anderson County resident fired at the men during a possible theft. WYFF4 News reported the story on May 7.

Homeowner David Walker, a resident of Walker Circle in Anderson, South Carolina, said the two men were stealing from him. According to the Anderson County Sheriff's Office, multiple reports have been called in to the police, with the most recent being Tuesday.

Captain Garland Major confirmed Walker fired shots at the men, with one of the shots hitting the driver of an SUV on his property. The vehicle crashed as the men fled the scene.

Walker told WYFF4 News

"I don't intend to hurt anybody and I'm not going to hurt anybody unless I'm forced to. I'm a law abiding, peace abiding citizen"

The driver of the SUV was taken to AnMed for treatment. No word is available on his condition at this time.

This isn't the first case of a homeowner taking the law into his/her own hands. Several burglars have already made the news in 2014 when shot or killed by the person they were attempting to rob.

Perhaps those who are considering a life of crime should be warned that many are protecting their own property by whatever means available. Robbing the wrong person can get you killed.
