Anderson County PAWS Christmas in July special July 14-19

Anderson County PAWS is running a Christmas in July special next week to help the shelter find forever homes for the dogs and cats in their care. Their Facebook page has more information, and photos of some of the pets up for adoption.

This is the time of year when shelters are overrun, especially with it being kitten season. The Anderson shelter is no exception, so PAWS is offering special adoption prices on cats and dogs.

The adoption prices will be valid July 14 until July 19, with the hope many of the pets there will find a forever home.

Dogs and cats who have already been spayed or neutered and are ready to leave the shelter for their forever home are priced at only $10.

Solid to mostly black cats and dogs can be adopted for only $20.

All other animals at the facility will be $40. This is an excellent price, considering pets will be spayed or neutered before leaving the shelter, up to date on their vaccinations and microchipped for their protection.

The shelter recently housed the cats from the Julianne Westberry animal cruelty/torture situation in Belton, as well as some of the cats rescued from the farm.

The Anderson community can show their support of the shelter by coming out and adopting a pet. Or two. Cats and dogs are twice as nice when adopted with a buddy to keep them company.

Earlier this month, the shelter had a post on their Facebook wall breaking down the animals they care for in one day. On July 2 their inventory was 2 birds, 236 cats, 311 dogs and 5 rodents.

Also keep in mind the shelter is always in need of Purina pet foods; puppy pads; bleach; HE laundry detergent; cat litter; towels; blankets; and pet toys.
