Anderson Cooper doesn't think celebrities should be forced out of the closet

After years of speculation and wondering about his sexual orientation, Anderson Cooper publically confirmed that he’s gay last summer. When it comes to being outed, Cooper doesn’t think that celebrities should be forced out of the closet.

The journalist and talk show host appeared on Bravo’s “Watch What Happens Live” and of course the topic came up. It was host Andy Cohen who is openly gay that brought the subject up.

Cohen said, “There are still several well-known people in the media who are in the closet. I wonder if your opinion has changed about whether those people should come out or not.”

Cooper responded to Andy Cohen’s question by saying, “I mean look, it’s a personal decision that everyone has to make for their own reasons.”

“Obviously, I think we’re all better off with greater visibility, so I would encourage people to do what they’re comfortable with, but no, my opinion hasn’t changed. I’m pretty understanding of where people are at, and people are at different places in their lives.”

“But there’s a bunch of people whom I’m surprised have not been more forward, and you know given their position and the extent to which they’re forward about other aspects about their lives.”

Anderson Coopers other guest was comedic actress, Wendi McLendon-Covey. She playfully prodded him to “look right in the camera and name names. Cooper laughed and refused to let the cat out of the bag.
