On Saturday night the 7th Annual South Florida Gospel Music Awards (SFGMA) was held in Palm Beach, FL. Peppi Hendrix, President of Hendrix Entertainment and founder of the SFGMA back in 2004 kicked off the event with a warm welcome. The 2013 SFGMA awarded various independent gospel artists, praise dancers, radio stations, and radio and TV announcers in South Florida by public vote from across the nation. Last year the awards neared 2,000 attendees making it one of the largest of it’s kind.
Throughout the weekend SFGMA seminars featuring a panel of executives in Gospel Music addressed topics including record promotion, radio airplay, and social media. But the highlight, as it is every year, was the awards ceremony. And this year the performances sure did deliver.
Performers included Stellar Award Winner Phillip Carter, Syreeta Thompson, Helen Miller, Micah Lee and many others. R.C. Miller performed his song ‘Let’s Get Married’. It had the audience in an uproar. The big winner this year, Harriet Vanderpool, received 3 SFGMA awards.
