Temptation is the lure into evil. It is a thought that comes before an action. All people are tempted. Jesus was tempted, but He did not sin. He gave believers this statement to pray that would keep them from evil. The sinful nature is with the believer, but he or she does not have to submit to it. Prayer is powerful because of the communion with the all powerful God in heaven. He gives power to overcome temptation and avoid evil behavior; therefore behaviors are becoming godly and holy.
The enemy, devil, is the evil one. He comes with the temptation. He wants to see people destroyed. God will deliver all those who call on Him. God gives the Holy Spirit to counsel believers against the schemes of the enemy. Turning to God in humility is the answer to temptation. You overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of your testimony.
Challenge: Believer in Jesus, look to God and the Holy Spirit to overcome temptation and resist the evil one!
