Ancient American events this weekend February 1-3, 2013

Check out these lectures and conferences devoted to revealing the ancient Native American civilizations of the Americas:

  • "Integrative Role of Ancestor Veneration Cult at the Site of Sican, Peru": February 1, 6:45 PM. Pre-Columbian Society of Washington DC February Lecture. This lecture focuses on the inferred ancestor veneration cult of the Middle Sican society (ca. AD 950-1100) on the North Coast of Peru. Our speaker will address the twofold question, "Did ancestor veneration, indeed, occur in the Sican Society?" Study of material evidence of human activities, primarily during ceremonies and rituals, as well as the surrounding contexts (sociocultural, political, and ecological) provides the basis of this research. Charles Sumner School Museum and Archives, 1201 17th Street NW., Washington DC. http://www.pcswdc.org/monthly_lecture.php
