“Sick and Tired” singer Anastacia is fighting to be a second-time breast cancer survivor. According to a Feb. 28 E! News report, the singer has being diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time, and has canceled all her upcoming performances, tours and travel until further notice.
BBC News reports that the determined fighter made a full recovery in 2003 after being treated with surgery and radiotherapy. Her first diagnosis taught her the importance of early detection in fighting breast cancer and she urged other women to have mammograms.
In response to the current diagnosis, Anastacia issued a statement on her website, “I feel so awful to be letting down all my amazing fans who were looking forward to 'It's a Man's World Tour,'” the 44-year-old survivor said. “It just breaks my heart to disappoint them.” According to BBC News, all tickets for the tour, due to start on 6 April in London, will be refunded.
The singer is fighting back, adding, “Now more than ever, she is determined to live by her motto, 'Don't ever let cancer get the Best of You!' A born survivor, Anastacia has one goal and that is to make a full recovery with the support of her family, friends and everyone around her.”
Despite the diagnosis, she will continue work on writing and recording a new album, with performances not too far behind.
