Laguna Coast Wilderness Park Fitness Hikes

Get your workout someplace new this week. Take in some beautiful scenery, get your heart rate up, and blaze some trails. There are two fitness hikes coming up soon in Laguna Canyon. One Fitness Hike will be at Ridge Park on Feb. 9 at 8:30am and then another at Willow Canyon on Feb. 11 at 8:30am. Laguna Coast Wilderness Fitness Hikes occur weekly and are not meant for beginners. Hiking poles are recommended for these strenuous hikes. To participate is a minimum $2 donation and parking is $3. Both events are hosted by the Laguna Canyon Foundation, and all donations go toward preserving the parks and wilderness of south Orange County.

Nature Walk at O’Neill Regional Park

A perfect event for families, this walk is mild, simple, and educational. Learn about the nature and wildlife of the Trabuco Canyon area while spending time in this beautiful outdoor setting. The nature walk begins at 8am on Saturday, Feb. 11. There is no entrance fee, and parking is $5. This event is great for children ages 7 and up.

OC Chili Winter Trail Run Series

The first run of the OC Chili Winter Trail Run Series is coming up on Feb. 11 at 7:30am. It is a 5-mile trail run through gorgeous O’Neill Regional Park. Registration is $30-$34 and parking is $5. Stay after your run for the post-race chili cook-off and campfire. Participants receive a free event t-shirt and the health and triumph of finishing the race.

The Nature of Love – Valentine’s Day Walk in Laguna Coast Wilderness Park

Go for a walk with your love as you learn about love. This 2-mile leisurely hike through Laguna Canyon is romantic and educational. The walk will begin at 2pm on Feb. 12 at the Nix Nature Center. The event is a minimum $2 donation and parking is $3. Donations go to the Laguna Canyon Foundation.

Love Birds 5k in Long Beach

On Sunday, Feb. 12, participate in the Love Birds 5K in Long Beach. This quick run/walk is over flat terrain so you and those you love can enjoy the race and the ocean view. It will be a small event, so register as soon as possible. Registration closes on Feb. 10. Cost is $18-$32 to participate in the event. The race starts at 7am.
