On August 5th, 2014, an unemployed couple from Anaheim, California was sentenced to prison for keeping their two daughters locked inside their mobile home for years. The mobile home was filthy and unkempt. The children were refused adequate nutrition and denied proper hygiene while their parents obsessively played World of Warcraft.

Lester Louis Huffmire and his wife Petra Huffmire both pleaded guilty to multiple charges including two felony counts of child abuse, two misdemeanor counts of false imprisonment, one misdemeanor count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and sentencing enhancements for great bodily injury according to the Orange County District Attorney's Office.

Between May 21, 2010 and May 20, 2013, the couple locked up their two daughters (ages 10 and 5) in an unsanitary mobile home. According to the prosecutors, investigators found appliances "covered in mold and feces throughout the home, a pile of used condoms under a stuffed teddy bear and inoperable toilets".

The children were discovered after neighbors contacted authorities. The Anaheim Police Department then conducted a welfare check and were shocked to see the conditions the children were forced to endure. The Huffmires did not even allow their daughters leave the mobile home in order to attend school. According to some reports the girls had not seen grass in years. Investigators claim that the children had dirt crusted on their feet, matted hair, teeth damaged "beyond repair" and were malnourished.
