Ana Matronic and Bright Light Bright Light release cover of 'West End Girls'

Producer Bright Light Bright Light posted a new collaboration with Ana Matronic of Scissor Sisters fame yesterday on SoundCloud. The two were working together for a benefit show when they decided to record a cover of the Pet Shop Boys’ classic “West End Girls,” which is currently available for streaming and as a free download at SoundCloud. Bright Light Bright Light is also part of another former Scissor Sisters’ solo efforts as a member of Del Marquis’ Slow Knights.

West End Girls” was originally released by the Pet Shop Boys in 1984 and then a second version was released by the duo in 1986. It went on to conquer the British charts and reach the top spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart in the United States. In 2005 British Academy of Songwriters and Composers named Pet Shop Boys’ “West End Girls” the Song of the Decade for the years of 1984 to 1996.

Ana Matronic is best known as the lead vocalist for the Scissor Sisters, who announced they were splitting up last year following the release of their final album “Magic Hour.” When not busy with her Scissor Sisters duties Ana has managed to work on collaborations with New Order and Duran Duran over the years.

Bright Light Bright Light is the stage name of Welsh producer Rod Thomas, who has been called the hottest new thing in music by none other than Elton John. He released his debut album “Make Me Believe In Hope” last year and it is available now on iTunes. In his short time in the spotlight he has managed to tour with Ellie Goulding, Erasure and the Scissor Sisters.
