An unique day of fun awaits at Ashtabula's Wine & Walleye Festival

Fun can be had by all at an unique festival that celebrates the virtues of an unusual combo -- wine and fish. Plan a visit to the 6th annual Wine & Walleye Festival being held along the historic Ashtabula Harbor in Ashtabula, Ohio on Friday, August 22, Saturday, August 23 and Sunday, August 24. It is approximately a one hour drive from Cleveland.

Wine & Walleye Festival Taking place on Bridge St. in the city's harbor district, the Wine & Walleye Festival features such diverse acitivities like wine tasting and a fishing tournament in addition to a Classic Car Show, a 5K run and a Guppy Run for kids and one event you don't want to miss -- the Lighted Boat Parade on the Ashtabula River (with a theme this year of "Disney") happening on Saturday evening at 9:15 p.m.

Participating wineries for the wine tasting include Emerine Estates (Jefferson), Ferrante Winery & Ristorante (Geneva), Harpersfield Vineyard (Geneva), Debonne Vineyards (Madison) and Grand River Cellars (Madison) among others. Hours for the wine tasting are 4 p.m. - 12:30 a.m on Friday, noon - 12:30 a.m. on Saturday and noon - 5:15 p.m. on Sunday. E-Tickets purchased in advance are $15 per person and Weekend Passes are $25 per person. The price include 12 wine tasting tickets, a Wine & Walleye souvenir wine glass and a promotional bag of goodies. Weekend passes include 12 wine tasting tickets on both Saturday and Sunday.

The Fishing Tournament starts on Saturday at 6:15 a.m.. Various prizes will be awarded with an awards ceremony taking place on Saturday at 4 p.m. You must register to participate. Competitors will include amateurs and pros. Cost to register for the amateur division is $50 per person after August 9.

The Festival will also feature live, musical entertainment provided by the groups Madison Crawl, High Horse, Chaos in Paradise, Dashboard Jesus, Jam Sammich, Good Question and the Ernest T. Band.

Of course, there will be a lot of food available for purchase include perch and walleye dinners and pizza.
