An Open Message to Rob Portman

Senator Portman, since you signed the "Defense of Marriage Act" a few months ago, you apparently have discovered that the RINO elite of the Republican Party mistakenly believes it necessary to broaden its base and appeal to a wider spectrum of people to get elected. It is so obvious that you want to run for president, that even some politicians might be able to see through your transparent and shallow "conversion" to now being in favor of gay marriage.

Nice try though, using your son's homosexuality in such a phony opportunistic fashion to attempt to add some substance to your "change of heart". One wonders, on what issue will be your next change of heart?

There is no such thing as "gay marriage", and there never will be, no matter how many court decrees are handed down, or laws passed, and no matter how many Democrat liberals and turncoat RINO Republicans, who want to destroy the moral fabric of our society, desire it. The headlong rush to redefine marriage so as to include same-sex couples has been pushed by the ultra-radical minority gay rights movement, abetted by the liberal media, for years, and now you and President Obama have together taken the lead of this anti-moral stampede.

My brother Phil, who I loved dearly, was gay, and I watched him die frim aids. Does that mean I must now act contrary to God and the Church and try to change what cannot be changed?

Men cannot "marry" men, and women cannot "marry" women. Only God can marry, and He only marries men to women, and women to men. I did not marry my wife, and my wife did not marry me: God married us to each other; and marriage is not possible without God.

Were you married in the Church? If so, you must be intellectually dishonest about your relationship to it, since you apparently only recognize the government aspect a union.

Senator Portman, you and President Obama would change the definition of marriage at the behest of the so-called gay-rights movement. It cannot be done, and it is wrong to try. Words have consequences, and the changing of their definitions has consequences. For example, let's say that someone desires to change the name of a cement brick to "pillow". Now if I say I'm going to hit someone with in the head with a pillow, the effect of those simple words suddenly drastically changes, because the recipient of that hit no longer knows what to expect. Do you not realize how the changing of the definition of marriage is likewise disruptive to society?

Marriage means the Holy union between a man and a woman, and nothing else, and it has been so recognized by the secular authorities as such for our entire history, through law and custom. It has been so recognized because of its roots in religious morality, and the benefits that it provides society.

You have posed as a conservative for long enough, and I am happy that you have exposed youself as just another spineless RINO who works to deconstruct our system of values and impose non-normal moral values on the majority of American society.

I supported you and shook your hand (In Niles, Ohio) when you were running for your seat. I wish that I had known at the time of the emptiness of your convictions. I will not make that mistake again. Shame on you.
