I am an activist and consultant working to build energy behind a nationwide Conservative Populist coalition. It is exciting to see some progress being made within your own ranks.
We all know that for the conservative movement to grow, grass roots (neo-traditional/Reagan) conservatives need constitutional conservatives affiliated with the Ron Paul Revolution and vice versa. The authentic Tea Party and the Ron Paul Tea Party are one in the same. I am not talking about the Republican Party PAC so-called Tea Parties that sprung up late in the game. This real coalition is the core of the contemporary Conservative Movement that is being well represented by Rand Paul, Justin Amash, Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, and other Liberty Republicans in Washington and around the country.
Many in the Ron Paul community are still angry at you guys for the way you treated Ron Paul during the last election, and as such they eschew the entire conservative movement. By you guys I mean Red State managers that prohibited and excommunicated Ron Paul commenters, Mark Levin who was hostile to Paul on his radio broadcasts, Glenn Beck, who ridiculed Ron Paul Revolutionaries, and Rush Limbaugh who called Paul names (although at times he was complimentary). But today everywhere you look, from war to civil liberties to economy, we see Ron Paul winning the ideological battle against the statists in both parties. Ron Paul has changed the narrative and his ideas and supporters are growing rapidly. The righteous energy in the conservative movement is libertarian. It is youthful and it is active. It can win.
I asked some of the Ron Paul people at the Daily Paul website what it would take for them to join forces with you. In particular, I wondered if they could get behind Mark Levin’s Liberty Amendments activism. Many of the respondents were incredulous that I would even ask that question after how they were treated and how you treated Ron Paul. They see you joining forces with them because they believe they are winning the argument and they are. A few of them were less reactive and said what might help is if you offered Dr. Paul (and by implication his supporters) an apology. Again by you I mean Erick Erickson, Mark Levin, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, and others who are the media thought leaders in the conservative movement, and are thus very influential. Can you put your pride aside and offer an apology for the good of the country? I think it might go a long way toward building a Conservative Populist coalition that can win back the country from the Progressives and the Republican Establishment.
So, what do you think?
