An invitation to bubble travel: The third clip from 'Oz the Great and Powerful'

A new clip from director Sam Raimi's upcoming "Oz the Great and Powerful" came online on Tuesday. This is the third clip from from the prequel to "The Wizard of Oz." The clip shows off a different method of travel -- by bubble.

James Franco as Oscar Diggs, the protagonist of the film. Diggs is a small-time circus magician who is sucked from Kansas (where else?) into Oz (also, where else?). There, Diggs meets three witches: Theodora (The Wicked Witch of the East, played by Mila Kunis), Evanora (the Wicked Witch of the West, played by Rachel Weisz), and Glinda (The Good Witch, played by Michelle Williams).

This film might prove to be an exception to the rule of prequels that lack oomph, because, after all, moviegoers know the ultimate fate of those involved. Indeed, Theodora is going to have a problem with Dorothy's house, and Evanora is going to have issues with water.

The plot summary is as follows:

Raimi's film is set before the events of the 1939 film. Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz. He thinks he’s hit the jackpot, with fame and fortune his for the taking... that is, until he meets the witches Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz), and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting.

Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is really evil before it is too late. Putting his "magical" arts to use through illusion, ingenuity, and even a bit of wizardry, Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well

The film opens in 3D, 2D and IMAX 3D on March 8. In addition to Franco, Kunis, Weisz, and Williams, the film stars Zach Braff and Joey King.
