An interview with Lydia Mondavi founder of 29 Cosmetics

We heard so much about Lydia Mondavi’s 29 Cosmetics skincare and cosmetic line, that we decided to examine the products and conduct an interview.

Taking advantage of the unusual warm weather, we headed to the wine country and paid a visit to Cake Plate Boutique in downtown Napa to take a close look at the products.
Our discovery began.
Lydia Mondavi, founder and wife of Robert Mondavi Jr. of the renown Napa winery, has created a brand that uses grape seeds at its main ingredient; an antioxidant rich byproduct of wine making.
Grape seeds contain proanthocyanidins, which are very potent antioxidants. They are helpful for diminishing the sun's damaging effects and lessening free radical damage.

Q: What is your mission statement?
A: 29 Cosmetics redefines beauty and skincare for the woman of today. I designed 29 around the concept that true natural beauty is not effortless, but comes through dedication, understanding, protecting and nourishing the skin. Each product is infused with grape seed extract, a natural byproduct of our family’s winemaking, which combats free radicals and neutralizes signs of aging in the skin. Q: What is the story behind 29 Cosmetics?
A: I named the skincare and cosmetic lines after Highway 29, the picturesque route that runs the length of the world-famous Napa Valley grape growing region. 29 Cosmetics utilizes one of the most concentrated forms of anti-oxidants, grape seeds, a natural by product of my family’s winemaking.
