For the past year I have been busy trying to figure out what topics I want to write about and what approach I would take to keep my content fresh. I ran across an article in the Chicago Sun-Times about the Affordable Care Act. As an Active Insurance Producer in the Chicago area and certified to sell plans to individuals and businesses through the Federal Exchange, I should have endless material to write about.
On October 1, 2013, the masses were open to log-on to Healthcare.gov and enter some personal information and download their insurance cards and be ready to go see their doctors by January 1, 2013! Sorry, it did not really occur that way. Glitches in deployment, the underestimation of unleashing millions of people to the website at one time, and political pressure all played a part in a botch debut of this Act.
I am for this Act, there is no ethical dilemma in offering health insurance coverage to the uninsured or helping small businesses the opportunity to finally provide health insurance to their employees. If I have any complaints its the lack of positive messaging that comes from the White House Administration to rebut the detractors. The Act has its flaws, but, I believe the positive it provides outweighs the negative. Once the website is truly up and running, Americans will realize the benefits of getting affordable care and will embrace this Act. It's not Obamacare it's Affordable Care!
So remember this, if you are not in good health, nothing else really matters, so take care and be well!
