The August edition of the Orlandobands.com Second Saturdays will take place on August 9 at West End Trading Company. This month’s show features live music from Orlando area bands IdaniaVa!, Idyllic Descent, Kept Quiet, Jo-Solo and Captains of April along with Central Florida’s g2p band, Jackmantra, Don’t cry its friday and Power Surge.
Jo-Solo is the name Joseph Weinsteiger has been performing under since the demise of his former band, Rkind. Weinsteiger is eager to experience the different performance vibe that happens when appearing as a solo artist. “A personal connection where instead of grooving with my band and the audience, now just [me and] the audience,” he said.
Weinsteiger has been a part of shows put together by Orlandobands.com before and has only good things to say about their influence on the local music scene. “I love Orlandobands,” said the singer/songwriter. “I feel they have deep roots in the Orlando music scene and love to watch young artists branch out.”
“We are very excited to be playing our first Orlandobands.com event with our new members,” said Kept Quiet. “We are looking forward to sharing the night with our good friends Chris Erwin and Power Surge. West End always has an awesome turn out and is one of our favorite venues. This is going to be a great night and we are looking forward to sharing our new music with our seasoned KQ friends and those we have yet to meet.”
Captains of April is a recently formed duo with Chris Erwin and James Sims. “Second Saturdays is always an event I look forward to playing,” said Erwin. “Performing at the West End is always awesome and Ben always gets talented and fun bands to put on the ticket. The fact that we get to play along side close friends like Kept Quiet for this show, makes it that much more enjoyable. We are still a new project and this show is a great tool for spreading the word and showing central Florida what we’re all about.”
The Orlandobands.com Second Saturdays in Sanford is held once a month at West End Trading Company, 202 S. Sanford Ave. The doors open at 7 p.m. and there is a $5 cover charge. Music fans under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
