On Tuesday, the Obama administration announced the creation of a “public advocate” position within the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency (ICE) to hear the concerns of illegal aliens going through the deportation process.
Obama appointed Andrew Lorenz-Strait, a former attorney with Community Legal Services of Prince George’s County, Maryland, to the new position.
In a press release, ICE Director John Morton said: “As our first Public Advocate, Andrew Lorenzen-Strait will work to expand and enhance our dialogue with the stakeholder community. We want the public to know that they have a representative at this agency whose sole duty is to ensure their voice is heard and their interests are recognized, and I'm confident Andrew will serve the community well in this capacity.”

Aside from the fact that Obama is the first president to create such a position, this telling statement can also be found within the press release: “The creation of the Public Advocate position is another milestone is ICE's ongoing work to enact significant policy changes and improvements to focus the agency's immigration enforcement resources on sensible priorities…”
In recent months, it has become obvious that Obama is attempting to transform our nation’s immigration enforcement officers into little more than clerks charged with handing out green cards and work permits.
Rep. Lamar Smith, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee had even harsher words for Obama.
Smith told The Washington Times: “It's outrageous that the Obama administration has appointed a taxpayer-funded activist for illegal and criminal immigrants who are detained or ordered deported. The administration all too often acts more like a lobbying firm for illegal immigrants than as an advocate for the American people.”
What follows are a few of Obama’s recent actions on behalf of this nation’s illegal alien population:
-On June 17, 2011, ICE issued a memo announcing that immigration officials no longer have to deport illegal aliens if they are enrolled in any type of education program, if their family members have volunteered for U.S. military service, if they have filed a civil rights lawsuit or even if they are pregnant or nursing.
This policy known as “prosecutorial discretion” will result in tens of thousands of deportation cases being dropped before the end of Obama’s first term. http://http://www.examiner.com/immigration-reform-in-national/obama-administration-issues-order-to-greatly-weaken-enforcement-press-ignores
-In August, 2011, the Obama administration announced that they will no longer deport illegal aliens who have not been convicted of a crime. Despite the current unemployment crisis, the administration will also reportedly distribute work permits to those illegal aliens allowed to stay.
-On January 6, 2012, the U.S. Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services announced the agency’s proposed rule change which will allow illegal alien spouses and children to stay in this country while seeking legal residency status, rather than waiting for a green card back home.
Under the new rule, they will supposedly have to return home to visit a U.S. consulate for an interview. However, this will be but a formality.
The federal government would issue hardship waivers to the illegal aliens so that they can easily re-enter the country and put them on a quick path to receiving green cards.
With the addition of yet another high-level bureaucrat to work strictly on behalf of those who have no legal right to be in the country, the financial burden being placed on the already beleaguered taxpayers by illegal immigration just got a little heavier.
