Alleluia! The Obama administration has experienced a conversion of heart. Hosanna in the highest! Catholics and Christians have been set free! Well, not exactly. What has happened, and happens so often in the wonderful world of Washington, is that the rhetoric used to get elected gets dumped when it may eventually lead to negative consequences. And the shell game called American politics shuffles the HHS religious attack from one shell to another.
Reprieve or treachery? http://blog.heritage.org/2013/02/01/hhs-mandate-another-offensive-update/
Let me explain.
President Obama's apparent epiphany is hardly from good old fashioned Christian charity. It is, rather, purely pragmatic in nature. He has merely removed the burden of contraceptive and abortive payment from under the shell of the Church and handed it over to Insurance companies. In effect, the Church still pays for contraception and abortive agents through the subsequent higher costs of Insurance handed on from under the shell given the Insurers by the Obama Administration. Obama, also, seeing the passing usefulness of his 'war on women' rhetoric and its great value in his election, foresaw its potential for self-inflicted damage in Court losses due to its non-Constitutionality! The devil is surely in the details.
The shell game revealed: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/02/01/administration-announces-broader-opt-out-for-religious-groups-over/
Obama therefore wins! Catholic and Christian Churches lose. Contraception and abortive agents are still paid for by the above mentioned groups, but only through slight of hand, through the shell of a transferred order of payment.
Also, of great importance, Joe and Jane, the small business person, the Catholic and Christian type, must still disobey their own Christian consciences and fund their employees contraception and abortive personal habits--habits diametrically opposite of their religious beliefs.
And this is still Unconstitutional.
So, therefore, nothing has really changed! Same old same old! The question is, will we, Catholics and Christians, to include our Bishops and Pastors, keep up the fight until we are free of contraceptive and abortive agent payment, or will we cow-tow to the devil's nuanced details?
