An eventful day on Twitter for Mortal Instruments

Today Mortal Instruments fans were reassured by Cassandra Clare, Jamie Campbell Bower, I. Marlene King that ‘City of Bones has NOT been canceled (read more here.)

First, Clare set worried fans straight by educating them on the behind the scenes dramas of movies. Screen Gems and director Scott Stewart are no longer attached to the project. Constantin Films owns the rights to both The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices movie franchises (if they are made.) As Clare explained, Screen Gems would have been a distributer. Movies jump studios all the time. Those not involved, like fans are not aware of these behind the scenes deals. “Twilight started at Paramount and went to Summit, etc. Screen Gems isn’t even the only production company ‘City of Bones’ has been involved with, or the most recent,” says Clare on her Tumblr account.

Jamie Campbell Bower, who is set to play Jace Wayland in ‘City of Bones’ also let his voice be heard on Twitter. Bower Tweeted, “All is still good. Do not fear. X” This also reassured fans and further showed the actors dedication to his role. We will all see Lily Collins, who will play Clary Fray on the big screen soon as Snow White in ‘Mirror Mirror.’

            I. Marlene King’s, who penned the script for ‘City of Bones,’ Twitter account has been a very popular Internet spot for fans to view. Recently she wrote some exciting yet cryptic Tweets about ‘City of Bones.’ She also got her say in calming down the Twitter panic. “For all you TMI fans, it always seems darkest before the dawn. I'm still so excited. And you will be soon, too,” she tweeted. In confidence of Constantin, she also wrote, “it's all good. The Constantin folks understand TMI. Your loved characters are in great hands." From that Clare responded, “Definitely.”

Clare still mentioned the talk of an August start for filming but currently a lot hangs in the balance for the franchise. The good news is that this is really old news. Screen Gems and Scott Stewart haven’t been involved with the project since around last August according to Clare. This is just not the news that typically gets shared and she can only say what is confirmed and approved for her to say.

Keep the faith fellow Mortal Instruments fans. We will have our day!
