On Sunday, Dec. 22, a special event is being held in honor of a woman who has taken a personal stand, with her business, against Michael Vick and the team that put him on their roster.
Since 2009, animal lover and rescuer Pat Brett made the decision to not air Eagles games at her Philadelphia, Pa., bar "Doobies," as long as the infamous, former dog-fighter, Michael Vick, remained on the Philadelphia Eagles roster.
Brett's decision impacted her business' finances, especially on game days, but for her, and for many people, it was a stance worth taking.
The event later this month is being organized by Christine Berk, a woman who wants to show Brett her appreciation for her sacrifice - she also hopes to use the party as a means to help educate the public about pit bulls.
The following has been shared about the Pit Bulls for Doobies event:
Pit Bulls for Doobies is a chance for the public to support Pat for taking a stand, one that has cost her bar business on games days, and celebrate the Pit Bull breed by welcoming local Pit Bull rescues to attend as well as other organizations that support the Pit Bull breed, including educating the public about the true nature of Pit Bulls.
It is our hope that Pit Bulls needing fosters or furever homes will also benefit from the event. We look forward to meeting fellow rescue people and creating some rescue camaraderie!
The festivities kick on at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday the 22nd. Click here to read more.
