An Evening with Robert Brown

The Jefferson School African American Heritage Center presents An Evening with Dr. Robert Brown, a lecture and book signing event to be held Thursday, November 21, 2013, 6-8 PM, at 233 4th Street NW, Charlottesville, VA.

In his book, Economic Stress: Facing a Harsh Truth with Information to Empower, Robert Brown, medical sociologist and adjunct professor at Howard University, captures the personal stories of people ranging from seasoned professionals to single mothers who, for one reason or another, are unable to meet their financial obligations. Through these anecdotes, he poses the question of whether or not it is it time to redefine what success and the American Dream mean in the 21st century.

In his discussion, Brown will share these stories along with strategies to manage economic stress. For a local perspective, Brown will be joined by Eboni Bugg, outreach coordinator for the Women's Initiative.

A reception will follow the discussion and book signing.

This event is made possible through the generous support of Wisdom Oak Winery.
