Miami Fashion Week is an event that Floridians and the international fashion elite as well as the world's top emerging designers, fashion VIPs, musicians, media and celebrities look forward to in March from March 20-24, 2013. This year marks the celebration of the 15th Anniversary which will take place at the Miami Beach Convention Center.
To build up to the excitement of the event, Miami Fashion Week recently honored philanthropists and top designers at the 4th Annual Humanitarian Awards on Thursday, February 7, 2013.
The event itself was hosted by the Miami Fashion Week Foundation at the Mondrian South Beach. Seven honorees were recognized for their outstanding community involvement including Miami Beach Commissioner Jerry Libbin, award-winning singing sensation Luis Fonsi, Alex "A-Rod" and Cynthia Rodriguez, Mercedes Carlson, Kimberly Bacardi, Miami Symphony Orchestra Director Eduardo Marturet and Raul Alarcon.
The magnificent awards were sponsored by Tiffany & Co.
Some of Miami's most followed celebrities came out to offer support for the honored recipients such as Selene Arvesu, Silvia Boschetti, Jennifer Behar-Cervera, Cristina Gort and Zurami Pascual.
The evening was a tropical celebration with pool and palms all part of the festivities. Celebrity emcees Jorge Bernal and Alessandra Villegas kicked off a night of revelry and recognition.
Fashion was a common bond that united the group and there was a special fashion display by "Miami Fashion ICON Award Recipients" Nicolas Felizola, Julian Chang and Viviana G for Petit Pois. Fashion models displayed some of their best designs amongst the crowd.
In order to support the Miami Fashion Week Foundation, Inc. which is a non-profit organization supporting education within the creative arts by providing cash scholarships, mentoring programs and internships as well as incentives for students and emerging talent in the creative industries, a silent auction was held with a multitude of irresistible items to choose from. Bidding was underway for celebrity athlete memorabilia, spa treatments, hotel stays and restaurant and nightclub certificates along with other great one-of-a-kind gifts.
Beth Sobol, Founder of Miami Fashion Week, was excited at the success of this outstanding annual event. It not only does so much for the fashion industry as a whole but also the local South Florida community as well.
