There has been yet another shocking case of a brutal crime against witches or accused witches. In Beladevipur VDC of the Kalali district an elderly woman was beaten and abused after being accused of practicing witchcraft on April 5, 2013. The woman’s name is Raj Kumari Rana, she is 65 and lives in Beldevipur. What was done to her, by her own family, is shocking.
Her family members, Nira and Ram, accused the elderly woman of killing her new born baby roughly 8 years ago, and confronted her about practicing witchcraft. Raj had her head shaved, was beaten, stripped of her clothing, forced to eat feces and had a wooden stick inserted into her anus before the assault was brought to an end. Several people watched the event and have said that Ram and Nira’s brother-in-law also took part in the assault. Raj was taken to the Seti Zonal Hospital.
Locals that were watching the attack did not put a stop to the assault until after her attackers brutally inserted a wooden stick into her anus. Police have arrested both Mira and her husband, Lal Singh Rana.
