According to the Mayo clinic, antioxidants may prevent diseases such as Alzheimer, cancer, cardiovascular, and macular degeneration. Do you know of someone that has been affected by any one of these diseases? From this day on make a commitment to live healthier by choosing healthier foods and including exercise into your daily activity.
Antioxidants come in many forms. One form is fruit. The berry family blackberries, blueberries, cranberries, raspberries, and strawberries have the highest source of antioxidants. Other fruits are apples, cherries, kiwi, pears, pineapples, and plums.
Incorporate these fruits in cereals, shakes, or smoothies. Have them as a snack about 1/2 to one cup after lunch. Need a fun activity for kids? Have your children make fruit kabobs. Toss them into a spinach salad for dinner. For a late night snack, try them with cottage cheese or yogurt.
Even though an antioxidant is good for the body, it should be used as a supplement to your balanced diet. Keep track of your fruit intake by using a meal calendar. It will also help you in choosing a variety of fruits. Stop by your local Sprouts for fresh antioxidants. Keep in mind to drink plenty of water as well.
